William Michalak

William Michalak is an engineering leader specializing in risk and machine learning at Uber, where they develop ML models aimed at reducing fraud and abuse in the Uber Marketplace. They previously served as a senior data scientist at Postmates, leading efforts to create methods for fraud detection and developing the company's first automated retraining platform. Prior to that, William gained extensive experience at Siluria Technologies, Inc., where they led teams to develop predictive models and chemical reactor simulations. William earned a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering/Physical Chemistry from Carnegie Mellon University and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Utah.
