Althea Ito is an undergraduate research assistant at the University of California, Berkeley, focusing on improving instructional practices in California under the mentorship of Professor Eos Trinidad. With extensive experience in student advocacy and leadership roles, Althea has served as Organizing Director for the University of California Student Association and UC Relations Director for the Associated Students of the University of California, where coordination of strategic responses to critical policies was a key responsibility. Althea has also proposed significant legislation aimed at improving training and accessibility for college students, led delegations to Sacramento and Washington D.C., and developed initiatives to support Southeast Asian students. Academic involvement includes research on the impact of COVID-19 on educational achievements among Southeast Asian students and founding a student group focused on Pilipinx issues. Althea is pursuing a dual Bachelor's degree in Ethnic Studies and Educational Sciences at UC Berkeley.
