Anna Maurer currently holds the position of Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan since October 2024, following a role as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of California, Berkeley, starting in May 2019. Maurer’s research expertise centers on recombinant adeno-associated viral vectors (rAAVs) and their application in gene therapies. Prior to this, Maurer completed a PhD in Biological and Biomedical Sciences at Harvard Kenneth C. Griffin Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, from 2013 to February 2019, where doctoral thesis work focused on AAV virion assembly. Earlier in the academic career, Maurer served as a Research Associate and Lab Manager at the University of Michigan Medical School, managing lab operations and conducting research on epigenetic regulation in pluripotent stem cells. The educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Michigan, earned from 2009 to 2012.
