Beth Bird is an accomplished filmmaker and educator with extensive experience in film and media. Currently serving at the University of California, Berkeley since August 2016, Bird has also worked as an independent filmmaker since 1993, with notable projects including the feature-length documentary "Everyone Their Grain of Sand" (2005), which explores the impact of globalization on land ownership in Tijuana. Bird's teaching career includes positions at the Art Institute of California-San Francisco, San Francisco Art Institute, and California College of the Arts, covering a range of topics from film history and media theory to photography and cinematography. Additionally, Bird has held leadership roles, such as serving on the Board of Directors for the International Documentary Association. Bird holds a BA in Modern Culture and Media/Semiotics from Brown University and an MFA in Film and Video from the California Institute of the Arts.
