Collin Steen

Postdoctoral Scholar

Collin Steen is a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley, specializing in advanced imaging methods in optical microscopy to investigate biophysical systems, particularly the structure and dynamics of model membrane systems at the nanoscale. Prior to this role, Collin was a Graduate Student Researcher in Professor Graham Fleming's lab, where research focused on novel spectroscopy techniques to explore the molecular mechanisms of photosynthesis. Collin's early research experiences include working as a Chemistry Research Assistant at the University of Oregon on surfactant/polymer systems, and at Kalamazoo College on the detection of urushiol in poison ivy. Collin holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor's degree from Kalamazoo College. Additional roles in customer service and safety instruction were held at Grasch Foods and the YMCA of Metro Milwaukee.
