Mallory Newman

Mallory Newman is a seasoned professional in strategic initiatives and diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging justice (DEIBJ), currently serving as the Director of Strategic Initiatives and DEIBJ at the University of California, Berkeley, since January 2022. With a strong background in media and journalism, previous roles include Associate Producer at Reveal from The Center for Investigative Reporting and Traveling Videographer for Tom Steyer 2020. Mallory has experience in teaching multimedia skills as an Assistant Instructor at Berkeley Advanced Media Institute and has worked as a Reporter for Mission Local, Inc. Additionally, Mallory's military experience as a Marine includes managing projects in Afghanistan. Educational credentials include a Master’s degree in Journalism from the University of California, Berkeley, a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from San Francisco State University, and an Associate of Arts in Architectural Technology from Golden West College.
