Matthew Potts

Matthew Potts is an accomplished academic and industry leader in applied mathematics and science. Currently serving as Chief Science Officer and Senior Scientific Advisor at Carbon Direct since April 2020, Potts has also held a long-standing academic career at the University of California, Berkeley, where responsibilities have included positions as Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor since July 2008. Prior to this, Potts was an Assistant Professor at the University of Miami from August 2005 to June 2008 and a Research Fellow at the University of California, San Diego from October 2002 to July 2005. Educational credentials include a PhD in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University (1996-2001) and a BS in Mathematics from the University of Michigan (1992-1996).
