Matthew Welch

Matthew Welch is a distinguished academic with extensive experience in molecular and cell biology. Since 1998, Matthew has served as a Professor and Co-Chair in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley, and holds the title of Professor of Cell Biology, Development & Philosophy. Additionally, Matthew is the Editor-in-Chief for the journal Molecular Biology of the Cell (MBoC) under the American Society for Cell Biology from January 2020 to January 2025. Matthew's educational background includes a Postdoctoral degree in Cell Biology and Biochemistry from the University of California, San Francisco, as well as a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, and a B.S. in Cell & Molecular Biology from the University of Michigan.
