Executive Fellow In Applied Technology Policy

Merici Vinton currently serves as an Executive Fellow in Applied Technology Policy at the University of California, Berkeley, beginning in March 2025. Previously, Vinton held the position of Senior Advisor to IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel at the Internal Revenue Service from May 2023 to March 2025, where responsibilities included driving digital transformation and strategic vision, alongside launching the Direct File tax filing service. Vinton's extensive experience also includes roles at The White House as a co-lead for the Direct File initiative and in implementing the Child Tax Credit. Other notable positions include leadership at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, co-founding Ada's List, and directing projects during the COVID-19 pandemic with FutureGov. Vinton has an MBA in International Business from the University of Denver and a BA from the University of Colorado Boulder focusing on Political Science, International Affairs, and Russian Studies.
