Michael Thompson

Michael Thompson is an experienced professional currently serving as a Commissioner for District 3 on the Zoning Adjustments Board for the City of Berkeley since April 2021. Simultaneously, Michael holds the position of Facilities and Operations Manager at the University of California, Berkeley, a role undertaken since August 2018. Prior to these roles, Michael worked at 24 Hour Fitness as a Group X Instructor from September 2006 to March 2020, specializing in spinning, shadow boxing, and personal training. Michael's earlier experience at UC Berkeley included positions as Technical Business Analyst and Learning & Development Coordinator within Campus Shared Services from July 2012 to August 2018, as well as Business Manager for the Athletic Study Center from July 2006 to July 2012. Michael has also held leadership roles in professional organizations, serving as Co-Chair for Young and New Professionals at Cal and Chair for the UC Berkeley Black Staff and Faculty Organization. Michael earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and an Associate of Arts from Diablo Valley College.
