Michelle D. Young

Michelle Young currently serves as the Dean and Professor at the Berkeley School of Education, University of California, Berkeley, since June 2023. Previously, Young held the position of Dean and Professor at Loyola Marymount University from July 2020 to June 2023, and worked as a Professor at the University of Virginia from July 2011 to July 2020. With a focus on equitable educational experiences, Young’s scholarship examines the roles of school leaders and policies. Additionally, Young served as Executive Director of the University Council for Educational Administration from 2000 to 2019, collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance educational leadership practices. Young’s academic background includes a PhD in Educational Leadership and Policy from The University of Texas at Austin and a BA in Sociology from Southwestern University.
