Neil Popovic is a partner in the Business Trial Practice Group at Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP, leading the firm's International Arbitration Practice and the ESG and Sustainability Team since October 2008. Additionally, Neil serves as a Frank C. Newman Lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley Law School, teaching subjects such as International Litigation and Arbitration, International Environmental Law, and Law, Politics and Policymaking. Neil has experience as an Ad Hoc Expert for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development's Independent Project Accountability Mechanism from February 2015 to December 2022, where responsibilities included reviewing compliance with Environmental and Social Policy. Prior experience includes serving as a shareholder at Heller Ehrman and as an International Project Attorney for the Sierra Club Legal Defense Fund. Neil holds a JD from the University of California, Berkeley - School of Law and multiple degrees in International Relations and Political Science.
