Sandra Bass

Sandra Bass, Ph.D., currently serves as the Senior Associate Dean and Executive Director at the University of California, Berkeley, a position held since January 2015, and previously held the role of Associate Dean and Executive Director of the Public Service Center. Prior to this, Bass was the Executive Director of Teach With Africa from September 2013 to October 2014, focusing on enhancing educational exchanges between South Africa and the U.S. As a Program Officer at the David and Lucile Packard Foundation from June 2002 to November 2012, Bass managed an $8 million grant portfolio aimed at improving reproductive health outcomes for women and girls in Sub-Saharan Africa. Earlier experience includes serving as an Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland, College Park, where Bass taught criminal justice courses and mentored graduate students. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Political Science and Government from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from San José State University.
