Sylvia Cheng

Graduate Student Researcher

Sylvia Cheng is a dedicated researcher and data scientist with extensive experience in the fields of biostatistics and epidemiology. Currently serving as a Graduate Student Researcher at the Center for Targeted Machine Learning and Causal Inference at the University of California, Berkeley, Sylvia also teaches a graduate-level course on Probability and Statistics in Biology and Public Health. Sylvia's prior roles include a Data Scientist PhD Intern at Kaiser Permanente Division of Research and a Consultant at Apple. With a background in research data science at the University of California, San Francisco, and involvement with the COVID Tracking Project at The Atlantic, Sylvia has gained diverse insights across health data. Sylvia's educational qualifications include a PhD in Epidemiology and an MA in Biostatistics from the University of California, Berkeley, along with an MS in Epidemiology from the University of Rochester and a BE in Bioengineering from Huazhong Agricultural University.
