Ted Lempert serves as a Lecturer in the Political Science Department at UC Berkeley since January 2005, focusing on California Politics. As President of Children Now since September 2004, Ted leads initiatives in early learning, education, children's health, and child welfare, overseeing media representation, organizational strategy, fundraising, and policy outreach. Previously, as the Founding CEO of EdVoice from November 2000 to November 2003, Ted co-founded an organization advocating for education reform in California. Ted's political career includes serving as a member of the California State Assembly from December 1988 to November 2000, where significant contributions included chairing key committees and passing over 75 bills across various sectors. Ted was also a Supervisor for the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors from 1993 to 1996 and practiced law as an Associate at Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP after earning a JD from Stanford Law School and a BS from Princeton University.
