William Collins

William Collins is a highly accomplished Senior Scientist and Department Head at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where employment began in April 2007. In conjunction with this role, William serves as a Professor in Residence at UC Berkeley, also starting in April 2007. Prior experience includes a tenure as Senior Scientist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research from June 1997 to January 2008 and as a Research Physicist at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography from June 1992 to June 1997. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Astrophysics from the University of Chicago, completed between 1982 and 1988, and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Physics from Princeton University, earned from 1977 to 1981.
