Lauren Drowley has had an extensive work experience in the field of pharmaceuticals and scientific research. Lauren began their career as a Student Technician at Northwestern University in 2003 before moving on to the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine as a PhD Graduate Student from 2005 to 2009.

In 2009, Drowley joined AstraZeneca as a Postdoctoral Researcher and later held positions as an Associate Principal Scientist, Project Leader, and Clinical Scientist. Lauren played a pivotal role in various projects, including leading a cross-functional team and gaining approval for a novel cardiac regeneration project.

Drowley then joined UCB in 2017 and has held several key roles within the organization. Lauren started as the Associate Director of Molecular Genetics, Global Exploratory Development, where they were responsible for driving functional validation activities for targets across therapy areas. Lauren subsequently became the Director, Head of Element Genomics, then advanced to Senior Director, Head of Element Genomics, and Genomic Instability Biology Focus Area. In these roles, Drowley contributed to the development and implementation of research strategies and played a significant part in collaboration efforts between US and European research teams. Currently, they serve as the VP, Head of Element Genomics, In Vitro Pharmacology, and Neuromuscular Biology Focus Area at UCB, overseeing multiple teams and leading the development and execution of strategies.

Throughout their career, Drowley has demonstrated expertise in cell and molecular biology, gene therapy, data science, screening and assay development, and various therapeutic areas such as neuroscience and immunology. Lauren has also shown strong leadership skills and the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally to drive long-term success.

Lauren Drowley earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern University in 2005. Lauren went on to study at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine from 2005 to 2009, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Cellular and Molecular Pathology.
