Brett Lopez

Brett Lopez is an accomplished academic and researcher with expertise in aerospace, aeronautical, and astronautical engineering. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles since July 2021, Brett previously worked as a Postdoctoral Scholar at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where leadership was demonstrated as MAV Lead for the CoSTAR team in the DARPA Subterranean Challenge. Educational credentials include a Ph.D. and a Master's degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where research focused on advanced control techniques for autonomous systems, complemented by a Bachelor's degree from UCLA and an Associate degree from El Camino College. Throughout various roles, including internships and research assistantships, Brett has contributed significantly to multiple projects involving autonomous systems and control design.
