Gary Tsai

Gary Tsai, MD, serves as the Director of Substance Abuse Prevention and Control at the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, overseeing the largest specialty substance use system in the nation with a substantial budget and workforce. In addition to this role, Gary is a Commissioner for the Commission for Behavioral Health, focusing on the transition of the Mental Health Services Act. As the Medical Director of Behavioral Health at Amae Health, Gary delivers integrated care for patients with severe mental illness. Gary's extensive experience includes authorship, university volunteerism, and advisory positions in organizations aimed at mental health advocacy and improvements in service delivery. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Biopsychology from UC Santa Barbara and a Doctor of Medicine from UC Davis.
