Judy Branfman

Judy Branfman has extensive experience in research, writing, and documentary filmmaking. Currently affiliated with Sycamore City since 2000, Judy collaborates with diverse creators while pursuing personal projects. As a documentary film director and producer, Judy's notable work includes "The Land of Orange Groves & Jails," which explores activism and First Amendment rights in 1920s Los Angeles. At UCLA, Judy has served as a research affiliate and lecturer since June 1999, teaching courses on labor and social justice. Judy co-edited "Public Los Angeles: A Private City's Activist Futures," which features significant essays on Los Angeles' historical housing and racial issues. Additional roles include fundraising and outreach for Teatro Jornalero Sin Fronteras and directing an outreach project with the California Clean Money Campaign. Judy holds a BA in Art Education from Franconia College and further education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
