Julia Nelsen

Julia Nelsen, Ph.D., currently serves as Principal Policy Analyst for the Academic Senate at the University of California, Los Angeles since September 2021. Previously, Nelsen held the role of Program Manager for the Institute of European Studies and the France-Berkeley Fund at the University of California, Berkeley from August 2011 to September 2021, where responsibilities included managing international programs, administering research grants, and engaging in strategic planning. Additional experience includes positions as a Graduate Instructor, Career Services Staff Fellow at UC Berkeley School of Information, Program Coordinator at Beyond Academia, and Copyeditor for California Italian Studies. Nelsen earned a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of California, Berkeley, as well as a Dottore magistrale in European Languages and Literatures from Università degli Studi di Milano, and a B.A. in English and Italian Studies from the University of California, Berkeley.
