Paul McCarthy

Martial Arts Program Coordinator

Paul McCarthy is the Founder and CEO of Cognitive Kali, established in January 2014, focusing on movement-based training to enhance cognitive function. McCarthy serves as a Speaker Coach for TEDx since May 2017 and has held various roles at UCLA, including Martial Arts Program Coordinator, overseeing one of the largest martial arts programs in the country, and Instructional Programs Coordinator for arts and sports classes. As an Expert Witness at the Expert Institute since February 2018, McCarthy provides consulting on recreation facility risk and liability. McCarthy founded The British Ninja Academy, providing martial arts instruction and risk management consulting since May 2004. Additional experience includes roles as a Movement Specialist with FMS Health and Safety, a curator for the first martial arts-themed TEDx event at UCLA, instructing martial arts at Chill'Asana Yoga, and serving as Adjunct Faculty at Mount Saint Mary's University. McCarthy holds a Master’s degree in Sports Science from Indiana University Bloomington and a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science from Nottingham Trent University.
