Ronan Bennett

Teaching Assistant

Ronan Bennett is an experienced researcher and educator specializing in aging epigenetics, cancer epigenetics, and laboratory automation. Currently serving as an Aging Epigenetics Researcher at the UCLA Matteo Pellegrini Lab, Ronan analyzes epigenetic and proteomic data in Xenopus frogs, notably constructing the first DNA methylation clock for an amphibian species. In addition to research roles, Ronan is a Teaching Assistant for LS 30A and LS 30B at UCLA, instructing over 65 students weekly in programming, calculus, and biological modeling. Currently, Ronan is involved in multiple projects, including creating DNA methylation biomarkers for cancer detection at the UCLA Su Yon Jung Lab and developing automated cell culture systems at the California NanoSystems Institute. Previous experiences include software development internships at Amazon Web Services and Cognicept Systems, along with research in the UCLA Shantanu H. Joshi Lab, culminating in a published paper. Education includes a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and ongoing studies toward a Master of Science in Bioinformatics at UCLA.
