William McCarthy

Professor

William McCarthy has a distinguished career in academia and research, currently serving as a Professor at UCLA since July 1987, where research focuses on behavioral interventions to promote healthier lifestyle choices among adults and teaching courses on obesity, nutrition, physical activity, and health-related lifestyle change. In addition to a long-standing volunteer position with the American Cancer Society since 1983, McCarthy contributed as a Senior Researcher at WestEd from 2001 to June 2013, leading evaluations of tobacco prevention education programs in California. Academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Psychology from Yale University, an M.A. in Social Psychology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and a B.A. in Social Psychology from Columbia College, Columbia University.
