William Summerhill

William Summerhill is a distinguished academic currently serving as a Professor of History and the Dr. E. Bradford Burns Term Chair in Latin American Studies at UCLA since 1994. Additionally, William holds the position of Visiting Fellow at The Hoover Institution, Stanford University since 2022, having previously served in a similar capacity during 1999-2000. William has been a Visiting Professor at various prestigious institutions, including Insper Instituto de Ensino e Pesquisa, the School of Economics, Business and Accounting at the University of São Paulo, and the Centro Mackenzie de Liberdade Econômica. William also contributed as a Visiting Scholar at FGV EPGE and as a Visiting Professor at École des hautes études en sciences sociales. A veteran of the U.S. Army, William served in various capacities, including as a Field Artillery Officer with the 82nd Airborne Division from 1986 to 1989. William earned a PhD in History from Stanford University and holds both MA and BA degrees in History and Political Science from the University of Florida.
