Edmund Read

Edmund Read has a long history of working in various roles in the tech and business industries. Edmund started their career in 1996 as Co-Founder of MHR & SmartCarsDirect, where they identified a gap in the supply of high quality, English speaking staff for temporary catered events in London. From 2002 to 2007 they were Global Operations Director at Popular Telephony, a multi award winning P2P VoIP start-up. In 2007, they were hired as Head of Service Development at Sony Mobile Communications, where they transformed the company's €400M European repair and support operation into a profit centre. In 2010, Edmund became Operations Director at Skype, where they transformed the company into an IPO ready operation. From 2013 to 2020, Edmund was Group Operations Director at JUST EAT, scaling the series C start-up into a FTSE 100 global leader. Most recently, Edmund has been Chief Operating Officer at Karhoo since 2020, creating the largest ground transportation platform. Edmund has launched 20+ new markets, signed 1000s of suppliers and partnered with the biggest travel brands. Edmund is set to become Chief Commercial Officer at UFODRIVE in 2022, disrupting car rental with a 5* service, all electric and hassle free.

Edmund Read attended the American International School of Nice from 1991 to 1994, where they obtained IGCSE, SAT, and other qualifications. Edmund then attended the International School of Sophia Antipolis, France from 1994 to 1996, where they obtained an IB & SAT. Edmund then attended UCL from 1996 to 1997, where they obtained a BA in Modern European Studies. Finally, they attended the University of Virginia Darden School of Business in 2008, where they obtained an Executive Program.
