The UK Metrology Board was established in 2022 to provide an independent UK-based Conformity Assessment Body (CAB) for the placement of weighing and measuring instruments on the market in England, Scotland and Wales, using UKCA marking - CE+UKNI marking (applicable in Northern Ireland), and ISO 9001 certification.

We know from first-hand experience that the process of achieving certification can be costly and time-consuming; this is why we aim to make the process of becoming certified as quick and efficient as possible. 

We do this by:

Simplifying the Process: Our easy-to-follow 12-step process enables us to support you at every stage of your application process, ensuring complete transparency about exactly what is required for a successful audit. 

Having an experienced team in place: With over 100 years of combined experience in the fields of legal metrology, administration, and business management, our team have been brought together to create a certification service that is fast, professional and reliable. 

Direct Contact with your Auditor: Once we have agreed on your audit dates and sent you the initial plan, you will be put in direct contact with your auditor, making it easy to gather all the information you need for the day. 

Ongoing Support: The process of certification kicks starts a 3 year certification cycle. As part of this, you are required to have an annual surveillance audit. We’ll notify you 3 months before your annual surveillance audit is due, giving you plenty of time to prepare and one less thing to remember.
