Richard McFarlane

Richard McFarlane is currently the Head of Technical Coordination at UKAS since February 2021, where responsibilities include supporting the Accreditation Director and implementing service improvements to enhance technical effectiveness. Prior to this role, Richard held various positions at the United Kingdom Accreditation Service from February 2008 to February 2021, including Technical Manager, Senior Assessment Manager, and Operational Support Manager, focusing on accreditation services, performance monitoring, and representation in European accreditation groups. Earlier career experiences include serving as National Quality Manager at the Environment Agency and Senior Assistant Scientist at the National Rivers Authority, alongside roles at Devonport Dockyard in both scientific and quality assurance capacities. Richard holds a Higher National Certificate in Chemistry from Plymouth Polytechnic, completed in 1987.
