Edwin Kim

Edwin Kim is currently an advisor at Ukko. Prior to that, they spent 10 years and 10 months as the division chief of UNC Pediatric Allergy and Immunology, associate professor, director of UNC Food Allergy Initiative, and program director of UNC Allergy and Immunology Fellowship. Edwin is a pediatric allergy and immunology specialist focused on clinical research in food allergy and medical education. As the director of the UNC FAI research group, their goal is to develop novel treatments for food allergy and to understand the mechanisms behind the development of food allergy. Some of their projects include investigator-initiated, NIH-sponsored multi-center, and industry-sponsored studies with a particular focus on oral immunotherapy (OIT), sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT), epicutaneous immunotherapy (EPIT) and novel biologics for the treatment of food allergy. Edwin is also the program director of the UNC Hospitals Program Allergy and Immunology fellowship (ACGME #0203613125). Prior to their time at UNC, Edwin completed a 3-year fellowship in allergy and immunology at Duke University Medical Center and a 3-year residency in pediatrics at Duke University Medical Center.

Edwin Kim received their Doctor of Medicine from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in 2008. Prior to that, they earned their Master of Science from Harvard University School of Public Health in 2001 and their Bachelor of Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1996. Edwin is also Board Certified in Allergy and Immunology from the American Board of Allergy and Immunology.
