Ian Smith

Ian Smith is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in the IT and telecommunications sectors. Currently serving as Director at Shifting Paradigms Ltd and Head of UKTIN, Ian has held various leadership roles, including Chief Technology Officer at Quickline Communications Limited and Programme Director for the 5G Testbeds and Trials at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). Previous positions include key roles at Ericsson and T-Mobile, where Ian was integral to network design, planning, and IT architecture. Ian's educational background includes a First-Class BEng in Electronic Engineering from Middlesex University and an education at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. Ian is also a member of the Institute of Engineering & Technology (IET).
