Engineer

James Raymond has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries. James started their career as a Senior Legal Assistant at Policy Management Systems Corporation where they drafted non-disclosure agreements and contract addenda. Following this, they worked as a High School Teacher in Richland School District 2, teaching Advanced Placement United States History and serving as the Head Coach and Director of Girls Varsity and Junior Varsity Soccer Programs.

In 2004, James joined ELECT, PC as an Engineering Assistant, where they designed utility lines and poles using PLS CAD software, conducted line and pole spotting, completed load calculations and chart design, and produced pole fabrication and framing drawings using AutoCAD. James worked at ELECT, PC until 2006.

After that, they joined Eaton Corporation as a Division Sales Engineer, where they managed project pricing, quote generation, order reconciliation, and plant contact for the Western District, Canada, and CAT ISO. James also developed customer approval drawings using BidManager proprietary software and coordinated the UL licensing process for a new vertical bus configuration. James worked at Eaton Corporation for one year.

In 2008, they became a Research Assistant at the University of South Carolina, where they contributed to a research team developing a cost-effective condition-based maintenance program for Apache and Blackhawk helicopters. Their responsibilities included test stand construction and maintenance, as well as the collection of test flight simulation data using an in-house designed software system.

From 2009 to 2013, James worked as a Design Engineer at UC Synergetic. Their role involved the design of transmission lines, structures, and foundations using the PLS-CADD software suite. James was also responsible for NERC compliance projects for several clients.

In 2013, they joined Bechtel Corporation as a Mechanical Engineer, where they worked until 2014. In this role, James utilized their engineering skills in various projects.

Following their time at Bechtel Corporation, they joined Ulteig in 2014 and TRC in 2017 as an Engineer. At both companies, they contributed to transmission line projects for local utilities, including line upgrades, refurbishments, and design using PLS-CADD software.

James Raymond's education history begins in 1987 when they attended Colgate University. James pursued a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and successfully completed their studies in 1991. After a brief break from academia, they enrolled at the University of South Carolina in 1997 to pursue a Master of Arts degree in Secondary Social Studies. This program concluded in 1998. Lastly, in 2005, James Raymond returned to the University of South Carolina to earn a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. James completed this degree in 2008, marking the end of their formal education journey.
