Chris Binz

Chris Binz is a seasoned aerospace engineer with extensive experience in mission solutions and threat assessment. Currently serving as the Director of Mission Solutions Engineering and Director of Mission Architecture at Umbra since August 2023, Chris previously held the position of Branch Chief in the Threat Assessment Division at the Space Security and Defense Program from March 2021 to August 2023. Significant experience at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory as an Aerospace Engineer spanned over a decade, from June 2010 to August 2023. Early career development included a role as a Graduate Research Assistant at Pennsylvania State University and an internship in mechanical engineering at Nitta Casings, Inc. Chris holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Maryland, a Master of Science from Penn State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Rutgers University.
