Omar Wheatley

Director of Strategic Programs at Umbra

Omar Wheatley has worked in a variety of positions since 1998. Omar began their career as a Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy, where they were experienced in naval operations, combat systems, and engineering of surface ships and aircraft carriers. Omar then served as a Naval Science Instructor and a Project Officer responsible for the maintenance and modernization of surface ships, nuclear powered submarines and aircraft carriers. In 2018, they became a Program Manager at CACI International Inc, leading the development, test, field delivery and support of a soldier borne counter-UAS system. In 2019, they joined Salamis Solutions LLC as a Systems Engineer, supporting government program office in the development of Mission Systems Engineering solutions. Currently, they are a Program Manager, Government Programs at Umbra.

Omar Wheatley has an extensive educational background. Omar received a Master of Science degree in Astronautical Engineering (Space Systems Engineering) and Applied Mathematics from the Naval Postgraduate School in 2011. Prior to that, they obtained a BS degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder in 1998. Additionally, they have obtained three certifications from the Defense Acquisition University: Program Management (Level 3) in November 2017, Systems Engineering (Level 1) in October 2016, and Production Quality Management (Level 2) in October 2007.
