Tim Hambley

Tim Hambley is an accomplished aerospace engineer with extensive experience in spacecraft manufacturing and engineering. Currently serving as the Director of Spacecraft Manufacturing at Umbra since January 2021, Tim has previously held roles including Spacecraft Manufacturing Manager and Lead Spacecraft Manufacturing Engineer. Prior experience includes a tenure at Northrop Grumman - Astro Aerospace from June 2016 to December 2020, where Tim was the Lead Boom Engineer, overseeing the design and production of deployable boom assemblies, and served as a Mesh Engineer, focusing on mechanical and RF properties of mesh systems. Tim also contributed as a JWST Boom Engineer, facilitating tooling requirements for testing mid-boom assemblies for the James Webb Space Telescope. Earlier in career, Tim worked at Freedom Photonics as a Mechanical Design Engineer, developing laser products and support hardware, and began as a Research and Development intern during studies at UC Santa Barbara, eventually earning a Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 2013.
