Andy Raine serves as the Deputy Director of the Law Division at the UN Environment Programme, leading a global team of over 130 environmental lawyers and specialists, while actively supporting negotiations for a global plastics pollution treaty. Raine previously held positions as the Senior Legal Officer and Head of the Frontiers in Environmental Law Unit at UNEP, as well as Regional Coordinator for environmental law and governance across the Asia Pacific region. Prior experience includes roles at UNDP, where legal and governance issues were addressed in connection with global environmental funds, and several law firms providing legal advice on climate change and environmental matters. Andy Raine completed an LLM in Environmental Policy and Law from UCL and has degrees in Law and Business from The University of Queensland.
