Ciara Kavanagh is a Communications Specialist at the UN Environment Programme since December 2023, specializing in the publication of timely and inclusive messaging on environmental issues. Previously, Kavanagh served as a Sustainable Development Specialist at FAO from October 2021 to December 2023, providing secretariat support for resolution negotiations of the 2nd Committee of the UN General Assembly. An Executive Assistant to the Ambassador and Permanent Representative at The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Rwanda to the United Nations from October 2020 to June 2021, Kavanagh produced protocol documents and managed various communication platforms. Earlier experience includes a Field Human Resources Intern at Médecins Sans Frontières, a Sustainability and Emerging Technologies Intern at the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation, and a Research and Application Development Intern at Dublin City Council. Kavanagh holds dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in European Studies from Trinity College Dublin and Political Science (International Relations) from Columbia University.
