John P. Downs

John P. Downs, MD, MBA, serves as the System Executive Medical Director for the UNC Health Patient Logistics Center and has held several significant positions within UNC Health since July 2005, including Associate Chief Medical Officer and Physician Advisor at UNC Hospitals, among others. As a founding member of the Hospitalist Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, John has contributed extensively to clinical care management. Prior to his current roles, John served as Medical Director at MedSpan, a healthcare market research firm. Educational qualifications include an Executive MBA from Duke University, an MD from the University of Florida College of Medicine, and various postgraduate certificates in finance and health sector management from Duke University, along with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Florida.
