Richard Hammond has over 30 years of work experience. In 1989, they began working as a Business to Business at Comet Group plc. In 1997, they became an Account Director at Maritz, where they worked on traditional agency-side programme creation and delivery for clients such as KFC, Fiat, and Hilton. In 2000, they became the Employee Loyalty Director at Black Sun. In 2002, they took on the role of Managing Director at Smart Circle Limited. In 2007, they became a Non-Executive Director at Loop Kids Limited. From 2003 to 2017, they wrote the best-selling retail manual "Smart Retail" and served as an Advisory Committee Member at NearSt. In 2017, they founded Uncrowd and wrote the book "Friction/Reward". In 2019, they became the author of the "Friction/Reward" book.

Richard Hammond attended Matthew Arnold from 1981 to 1988, where they studied Economics, Engineering Drawing, and Commerce.
