Raymond Burt is a distinguished academic with extensive experience in German language and literature. Currently serving as a Professor of German and Associate Provost at UNC Wilmington since July 1996, Burt also held the position of Associate Dean of Arts & Sciences and previously chaired the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures from July 2007 to June 2014. Prior to this, Burt was the Associate Dean of Liberal Arts and Chair of the Department of Modern Languages at Loyola Marymount University from 1987 to 1996. Educationally, Burt obtained a Ph.D. in Germanic Languages from UCLA, complemented by graduate studies in Germanistik from the University of Vienna and Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, as well as a Master’s degree in German from Middlebury College. Additional academic credentials include graduate studies in theology and economics from Southeastern Theological Seminary and North Carolina State University, respectively.
