Under the Stars is a performing arts charity based in Sheffield, working with learning disabled and autistic adults to create music, theatre and events that challenge expectations and celebrate talent.

We believe in the power of creativity to change lives. Every week, over 100 people come through our doors to take part in professionally led workshops in music, drama and dance. Together, we create bold, original work that reflects the voices and ideas of the people at the heart of it - our artists.

Whether it’s writing songs, devising theatre, performing live, or mixing tracks as DJs, we support people to develop artistic skills, grow in confidence, and take creative risks in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Our artists don’t just take part - they lead the way. Everything we do is co-created with the people who come to Under the Stars. The result? Surprising, joyful, powerful work that defies stereotypes about what people with learning disabilities and/or autism can do.

We also run one of the UK’s most successful nightclubs for learning disabled adults, with over 400 people regularly joining us at Sheffield’s Leadmill for a proper night out. All of our DJs have a learning disability and have been professionally trained by us - the music is banging, the atmosphere is joyful, and the dancefloor is always packed.

We’re currently expanding our work, growing our team, and looking for new trustees, volunteers and creative collaborators to join us. Whether you’re an arts organisation, potential partner, or someone who simply believes in the power of inclusive creativity - we’d love to connect.
