Xiao Yang

Xiao Yang is a Senior NLP Data Scientist at UnderwriteMe, leading NLP and data science initiatives within the text mining team since July 2022. Prior experience includes a role as Data Scientist II at Amazon, focusing on enhancing user experience with Alexa Shopping from October 2020 to June 2022. Earlier, Xiao worked as an NLP/ML Scientist at the European Bioinformatics Institute from June 2018 to October 2020, specializing in text mining from biomedical literature. A postdoctoral researcher at the University of Glasgow from October 2015 to April 2018, Xiao contributed to projects on electoral violence and product information extraction. Additional experience includes technical and teaching roles at the University of Kent from 2011 to 2014, along with a PhD in Computer Science and an MSc in Electronic Engineering.
