Fernando Andrade

Climate Change Regional Specialist

Fernando Andrade is a seasoned Climate Change Regional Specialist at UNDP since April 2020, focusing on operational coordination of the Climate Promise in Latin America and the Caribbean. In addition, Fernando serves as Co-Chair of the LEDS LAC Platform since January 2022. Prior experience includes a role as Senior Regional Advisor for climate finance and governance at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, contributing to the Euroclima+ programme aimed at promoting environmental sustainability in 18 Latin American countries. Previously, Fernando held multiple positions at UNDP, including NDC Support Programme Country Manager and BIOFIN Country Manager, overseeing project design and implementation. Early career experiences involve project coordination at the Ministerio del Ambiente, Agua y Transición Ecológica, and energy systems work with the Clinton Foundation. Fernando holds a Master’s degree in Energy Systems from the University of Melbourne.
