Julia Kercher is a governance expert, researcher, and human rights lawyer with a robust background in international development. They hold a Law degree and a Master’s degree in International Development and have consulted for various international NGOs, UN agencies, and governments from 2003 to their current role as Team Lead for Governance Research & Innovation at UNDP. Julia co-founded WoMen+Sea in 2020 to promote sustainable practices within the maritime sector and played a significant role in the development of the 2030 Agenda, notably aiding in the drafting of SDG 16 on Peace, Justice, and Inclusion. Throughout their career, they have focused on enhancing synergies between policy areas such as human rights, governance, and environmental sustainability.
