Risa Arai

Project Manager (anti-corruption)

Risa Arai is an experienced project manager and specialist in governance, legal identity, and women's political participation, currently serving as a Project Manager for Anti-Corruption at UNDP since July 2025. Previously, Risa held the position of Capacity Development and Knowledge Management Specialist for Women's Political Participation at UN Women and served as Programme Specialist at UNDP, where significant contributions included leading the drafting of strategic project documents for the UN Legal Identity Agenda and managing election-related projects in various countries. Risa has also worked as a Programme Adviser for the Secretariat of the International Peace Cooperation Headquarters in Japan, focusing on electoral observation capacity building, and has held roles at Waseda University, Sasakawa Peace Foundation, Asian Network for Free Elections, and other organizations. Risa holds an MSc in Democracy and Democratisation from University College London and a Bachelor's degree in International Liberal Studies from Waseda University.
