Jason Catchpole began their career in 2000 as a Software Developer at Baycom. In 2001, they returned to Baycom in the same role. In 2003, they became a Tutor (Graduate Assistant) at The University of Waikato in Hamilton, New Zealand. In 2007, they were a Software Developer at Jemerald Software Ltd. and a Software Engineer at Cisco. In 2012, they were a Senior Software Engineer at LayerX Limited. In 2013, they were a Computer Vision Advisor at VIBLIO. In 2014, they became a Scientist and then a Senior Scientist at Livestock Improvement Corporation (LIC). Finally, in 2016, they joined UneeQ as Team Lead and Lead Scientist, where they were the first dedicated developer on the digital human platform. As Lead Scientist, they were responsible for computer vision, machine learning, audio processing, systems architecture, and deep technical knowledge of the platform and domain.

Jason Catchpole completed a PhD in Computer Science from The University of Waikato in 2007. Jason then earned a Diploma in Science in Mathematics from The University of Waikato in 2019. Prior to that, they obtained a BCMS (first class honours) in Computer Science from The University of Waikato between 1999 and 2002.
