Fernanda Bonacho

Fernanda Bonacho serves as the Unesco Chair in Communication, Media Information Literacy and Citizenship at ESCS / IPLisboa and is the Coordinator of the Master in Journalism at the same institution. With a strong background in higher education, Fernanda has held the position of President at ICML – Instituto de Comunicação e Media de Lisboa since 2016 and has been a member of GILM – Grupo Informal sobre Literacia Mediática since 2021. Fernanda also taught Communication and Journalism at Escola Superior de Comunicação Social from 1998 to 2022 and was a professor at Escola Superior de Educação da Guarda from 1996 to 1998. Fernanda obtained a BA Honours in English Studies from the University of Portsmouth and completed a PhD in Communication Science at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, where additional degrees in Interdisciplinary Literature and English and German Language, Culture, and Literature were earned.
