Mogens Schmidt

Mogens Schmidt is a seasoned professional in media development and press freedom, currently serving as Senior International Advisor at Schmidt International Consulting since January 2014. With extensive experience managing international projects focused on the safety of journalists, Mogens has worked across various countries, including Ukraine, Myanmar, and Nigeria. Prior to this, Mogens held significant positions at UNESCO from 2003 to 2014, directing the Bureau of Field Offices and serving as Deputy Assistant Director General for Communication and Information. Additional roles include Assistant Director General at the World Association of Newspapers and Director of the European Journalism Centre. Mogens Schmidt began a career in media education as Managing Director of the Danish School of Media and Journalism. An academic background includes a Master's degree in Scandinavian Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics from Aarhus University.
