Roman Jashenko

Roman Jashenko is the Director General of the Institute of Zoology NAS RK. They served as Principal Researcher at the Institute of Zoology CS MES RK from 2001 to 2015 and as Director for Science at Almaty Management University in 2015. They have held leadership roles in UNESCO's Man and Biosphere programme, serving as Chairman of the Kazakhstan National Committee since 2011 and as Vice-President from 2014 to 2016. They served as Regional Consultant for Central Asia for IUCN from 2000 to 2008. They hold a Doctor of Biological Sciences (Higher Doctorate) in Entomology (2002–2009), a Master in Biology, Zoology, Entomology (1979–1984) from Kazakhstan National State University, and a PhD in Entomology (1991–1994) from the Institute of Zoology, NAS RK.
