Daniel MacGuire

Daniel MacGuire is a Senior Protection Officer at UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, where they currently lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive protection strategy for multiple country operations. With over 12 years of experience with UNHCR across Latin America, Europe, Africa, and Asia, they previously served as a Regional Associate Protection Officer, providing analysis and protection advice related to crises in Mali and Nigeria. Prior to their work at UNHCR, MacGuire practiced as an immigration law attorney in the United States, playing a pivotal role in family-based immigration cases. They earned a Doctor of Law (J.D.) from the University of North Carolina School of Law and a B.A. in History from McGill University.
