Patrick Mutai has extensive experience in humanitarian response and shelter coordination, currently serving as the Senior Cluster Coordinator (Shelter/NFI) at UNHCR since April 2015, focusing on North West Syria. Previous roles include Cluster Coordinator for the Afghanistan humanitarian response, where strategic leadership for shelter and non-food items was provided for internally displaced persons, and Shelter/NFI & CCCM Sector Coordinator for Nigeria, implementing decongestion strategies for IDP camps. Patrick also has a strong background in project management and technical support in refugee responses, having held positions as Shelter Officer and Shelter Expert in Tanzania and Ethiopia, respectively, and served as Shelter Manager and acting Camp Manager in South Sudan. Earlier experience includes leadership roles in construction projects related to education in Dadaab Refugee Camps and civil engineering in Kenya. Patrick holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
